Which wax should a beginner choose?
Flexible sealing wax beads are an approachable starting point because they melt evenly and release cleanly. Warm ivory and terracotta make small imperfections less noticeable.
Can I use a wax seal on an envelope?
Yes. Place the seal on the flap or use it as an outer embellishment. For machine-readable mail, consider placing the seal inside a protective wrap.
How much wax makes one seal?
Most 25 mm stamps use one standard bead, though temperature, surface, and desired thickness change the result. Practice cards help you find your preferred amount.
What paper works best?
Uncoated, moderately firm paper gives wax enough texture to grip. Very glossy or heavily coated stock may release differently and should be tested first.
How do I clean a stamp?
Allow residue to cool, then gently lift it away with a wooden tool or soft cloth. Avoid sharp metal objects that can scratch the brass face.
How should wax and stamps be stored?
Keep wax dry and away from direct heat. Store brass heads clean and dry, preferably in a pouch where they cannot rub against harder metal.
